So it surprises people to learn I used to subscribe to STARLOG magazine. There was interview with Ellison where he explained that whenever he met a fan being too effusive in praising his work, he'd make a point picking his nose!
That sounds like something he’d say. I guess I didn’t kiss his ass enough to get him to dig for boogers! He also said it’s the job of the writer to “bare their pimply ass to the world” in their work, at least. He didn’t moon me, either…
I'm going to try to not be a toxic fan, but Mr. Pluck is a hell of a writer, as illustrated by this piece about another fellow who was a hell of a writer.

Wonderful account of this!! I had the pleasure of meeting Dan Simmons and dining with him and we discussed Harlan at length.
I’m thoroughly entertained by the sendoff “All best otherwise” after “bugger off and leave me alone.”
I use that phrasing on occasion, to this day.
The “otherwise” is such a perfect little poke in the eye.
