Excellent post. Love that photo of the swan and mergs, and those shots of the eagles really highlight aspects of the plumage. I've always wanted to take a trip to the international wolf center. Thank you for sharing.

From your posts, a trip to the Boundary Waters or Voyageurs sounds like a fishing and birding expedition that you'd enjoy, and depending on where you embark from, the Wolf center is on the way. I hope you make it there!

The International Wolf Center! You've been! I looked into taking my kid a few years ago but it was a bit of a stretch of a trip at the time, and it's remained on my mind.

(I went to college in St. Paul and my boyfriend at the time was from the Iron Range. Such a different world from the cities ...)

Yup! I've been to one of the small towns out there, New York Mills, helping a coworker move from her family. We had to sleep in the cow pasture. When a town with a population of under 1200 decides to hold a “Great American Think-Off” Annual Philosophical Debate, you can tell they think very highly of themselves. It was an interesting place, to say the least.

It is such a blessing to be able to enjoy parks and conservation areas that people in the past preserved for us today. I like that photo of the Mute Swan and Hooded Mergansers. That image really shows the differences in size. I hope that Voyageurs National Park is protected as I know there are excellent wolf studies and projects ongoing in the area.

I hope it's protected, as well.
