A few weeks ago, I learned the sad news that the publisher of my crime thrillers, Down and Out Books, was closing operations. We had a good relationship, and my rights reverted quickly. After deliberating whether to bother publishing them myself, I reached out to book wiz Jaye Manus, and got the e-books back onto the usual retailers.
However, the paperbacks of Bad Boy Boogie and The Boy from County Hell are now out of print. I have a few copies if you’d like a signed one. The links go to Stripe; you should be able to leave a note of how you’d like it signed:
Also, I opened up my Story Archive to everyone. You can read many of my short stories by clicking the Stories tab at the top of this page.
I haven’t felt much like writing for a long time. I like to lose myself in a book, but most of the newer books feel like candy, to be consumed and discarded. I try to mention the enjoyable new books I encounter here. Many of them are published overseas, like Whale Fall by Elizabeth O’Connor, which finally got a U.S. edition with an ugly cover, and Terrestrial History, by Joe Mungo Reed.
Because of the child rapist dictator’s tariffs, I had to find When There Are Wolves Again by E.J. Swift on AbeBooks locally. It has rave reviews, and I think you can read the e-book in the U.S., but the hardback hasn’t made it here yet. It’s a hopeful vision of the future, and who wants that? Another YA dystopia please… can’t have the young folk thinking that they can change the future, unless they are “the chosen one”…
Even the conservationists fall into the passive voice trap, which makes it sound like endangered species save themselves, and it’s not normal people like us standing up and doing something. I’ll leave you with another great read from Amanda Royal at Earth Hope…
Do not give up hope. We showed up on October 18th, we showed up on Election Day, and we will need to keep doing it.

I am sorry about this. Pleased, though, that I believe I have the full Pluck collection (possibly barring Blade of Dishonor? I’ll have to check).
I just found out a lot of my online publications have disappeared from defunct publishers. Running in order to standstill. No one wanted to make a paper version of my Draft2Digital publication. Discouraging and makes me tired.
