Good news. Rising temperatures melted away the shitty, dangerous, ugly ice that has lingered for weeks.
I went out for a ride and crushed some of the remaining ice. It was good to be outside. I tried to ride before the ice melted but it was too dangerous out there.
The dangerous ice has kept a lot of people inside. It should be abolished.
I read a great piece by Amanda Royal who is rightfully angry with how legacy media handles climate change. It’s a shame that the billionaire who bought the Washington Post can’t afford to pay journalists, because he’s too busy going to space and making yachts to support his super yacht. I have nothing against yachts when they are providing reef structures for sea life at the bottom of the ocean, but until they all are, we should tax them out of existence. But enough dreaming, read Amanda’s fine writing:
During these times it is important to remain informed without being inflamed. The rage bait cycle of social media and floundering legacy media is best avoided. If you have a decent local newspaper like the Philadelphia Inquirer, support them. But to read good news, I recommend the aptly named Fix the News and the Weekly Anthropocene. The latter focuses on climate news that isn’t doomer crap.
We got another foot of snow but it was only about an hour of shoveling. My neighbor got the sidewalk with a snowblower. I usually do the walk when it's sleet or icy. Community is the best way to deal with dangerous ice.
It looks like winter may be finally ending as the next week promises 50°F
… I'll be back out in the woods with the birds.
More then.

I've shoveled once this year and even then it wasn't entirely necessary. I was outside in a t-shirt yesterday picking up garbage alongside the road that leads to my neighborhood, but three days ago I was up on the Front Range (three hours north) for a bison harvest and it was -10°, so there's that.
